There have been many tuners out there who have recently given the M2 shot a in the arm such as Alpha-N-Performance and Dahler and they’ve been pretty good efforts too. But now, BMW specialist Hamann has had a go and the results are, yes, exceptional.
They’ve added a new body kit and tuning parts for the sports coupe which is already a menace what with a very potent 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six making 365 horses and 465Nm of torque. But with a poke and prod here and there, the output of the Bimmer has been increased to 414 horses and 530Nm of torque. To get the extra power, which now catapults the car from 0-100kph in just 4.2 seconds with the six-speed manual or optional seven-speed dual-clutch, the tuner remapped the ECU and added a stainless steel exhaust with a choice of carbon fibre, silver, or anodized black tips. Hamann also offers insurance cover for this power advancement and it delivers all its original and accessory parts with a Certificate of Authenticity to help defy makers of fake parts.
As for the body kit, it isn’t as jarring as other efforts and it sure gives the M2 an aggressive touch. We like the new front splitter (with those additional air inlets) the lower side sills and the revised rear bumper with smoked out taillights and a diffuser. The boot lid spoiler features little winglets but the highlight has to be those Hamann Anniversary Evo wheels that are painted blue. As for the cabin, it’s been decked out with a set of Hamann pedal covers.
