Liberty Walk adds trademark wide body kit to Gran Turismo

Is this an improvement for the Maserati or has the tuner wiped the class right off the Italian?

We’re big fans of the Gran Turismo, production of which is set to end this year, and it seems Liberty Walk wants it to go out with a bang. Or a whimper, depending on what floats your boat that is…

The tuner has given the Italian its trademark wide body kit; it has added swelled fenders, a massive wing, side skirts, and front splitter to the car but we reckon it doesn’t look quite right. The Gran Turismo is a classy coupe and this outrageous new look by the Japanese firm doesn’t do the Maser justice, it’s just too gaudy and if anything, it looks like a drift car. That’s the polar opposite of what this refined, luxury GT stands for. The classy and elegant lines have been hidden by all the blubber, but we’re not surprised by their latest creation as the company has shocked car lovers before with some of their other designs.

Liberty Walk says “it will have the power to stop traffic” and “make even the loudest and most in-your-face of supercars cower.” But the slammed to the ground car wouldn’t get very far on roads that aren’t totally flat and smooth what with such a low ride height. It’d be scraping its belly everywhere. And you wouldn’t want to put a nick on this – not when things like the front bumper cost Dh11,000! The whole kit has been priced at Dh58,000.

This is too OTT for our liking but the tuner has done a better job on other cars in the past such as the McLaren 650S and the Ferrari 360 Modena…
