The Mégane has a bit of a reputation as being rather sensible but Prodrive has rectified that by giving the hatchback a serious makeover for Guerlain Chicherit’s 2018 FIA World Rallycross Championship campaign. And it looks awesome.

Called the Mégane RX, the Renault features a bespoke 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that will produce around 600bhp and 813Nm of torque.

Set to compete in the Supercar WRX class, the four-wheel drive five-door is said to be able to hit 100kph from rest in less than two seconds.

It tips the scales at around 1,300kg and since driver aids such as traction control are not permitted in the competition, the Renault should prove to be quite a handful in the corners…
