That is a really beautiful Merc-AMG GTS you’ve got there Mohammed. We had one for a long-term review and just looking at it brought a very big smile to our face. I bet it’s the same for you with yours…
First of all thank you for featuring me in the magazine it is a pleasure to be here.
It was always a dream of mine to own this car and I have had it for two years now. I have to be honest — I really did not expect that my dream would come true and that I would actually get this car but I am delighted that it did.
This is the very first car that I have ever owned and yes, I smile every time I see it, I just can’t help that!
That’s understandable — it’s absolutely gorgeous and has tremendous performance too, which is why it was the winner of the GT category in the 2016 wheels Car of the Year awards…
Yes I remember when it won, it made me feel great! I’d made the right choice of car that’s for sure. It is one of the best things I have ever gifted myself if not the best. I can’t even begin to explain just how much fun this car is to drive — words don’t do it justice! I have grown so attached to my car and I even use it as my daily driver — but I still can’t get enough of it.
There is never a dull moment when I am behind the wheel of this. I have even taken it to the Yas Marina race track which was an unforgettable moment.
I will be going back again, it is just such a thrill to unleash the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. It makes 503 horses but it honestly feels like it has way more than that.
The chassis is brilliant and it is one of the best handling front-engine rear-wheel drive traditional grand tourers that you can get your hands on.
As far as first cars go, this isn’t bad at all…
I know, I am really lucky! I have worked hard to be able to own a car such as this. I couldn’t be any prouder of it — buying it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. There is so much to appreciate such as its road presence, angry soundtrack and incredible performance. AMG never fails to make their cars
sound amazing. It’s like an angry German muscle car.
Before your dream came true you were considering other cars. What were they?
Initially I was thinking of getting a Mercedes C 63S or a Cadillac CTS-V. I would have been very happy with either of those as they’re very good but when the opportunity arose to get the GTS I couldn’t turn it down.
It’s been customised — tell us what you have had done to it…
I have been working very intensely on the car and done a lot to it. As of now, I added a front splitter, side skirts, changed the side mirrors, new diffuser, and added a rear spoiler. But what I’m really proud of is the steering wheel which has carbon fibre trim on it.
It gets a lot of attention doesn’t it…
It sure does — especially since it’s been modified. People are always taking photos and videos of it. My family and friends really like the car. I remember the day I brought it home; it was a birthday present to myself and the look on my parents face was priceless! They had no idea about it, it was a total surprise to them!
And then you were very surprised when you saw one that looked just like yours…
That’s right — but it didn’t just look identical, it had almost the exact same number plate as mine. My plate has the numbers 1997 and the car I saw had the numbers 19997! How strange is that?!
Very! You are a member of two car clubs here — tell us about the events they hold…
I’m a member of the Supercar Majlis and Group 63 clubs and have attended various events from car shows to drives and they are always fun and generate a lot of interest and excitement.
The best experience was when we were invited to Yas for the Pirelli Track day — that was the first time that I took my car to a race track and it was incredible fun to say the least.
With a car that has 650Nm of torque, the ability to hit 100kph from rest in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 310kph, I believe it! How did your passion for motoring begin?
For as long as I can remember I have always had a passion for cars and it grows with every passing day. Aside from my GTS I also own a Lexus GS430 which feels like the complete opposite to my Mercedes; it’s ever so smooth and ideal for long drives or when I need to run some errands.
I have been fortunate to have driven my friend’s McLaren 570 and like my Merc it too never fails to put a smile on my face.
Lastly, what is your dream car?
That’s a hard question to answer! I have a lot of dream cars and the list includes the Aston Martin One-77, Koenigsegg One:1, Pagani Zonda Revolucion, Mercedes CLK GTR, and the classic Bugatti Type 57SC.
