It was just late last month that Jaguar Classic confirmed that it will build nine new XKSS models. Today, sister brand Land Rover has announced that it will restore and rebuild 25 examples of its iconic, original Series 1 4x4. Launched under the company’s ‘Reborn’ initiative, each of these units will be hand-picked by Land Rover Classic’s team of experts, who will check them for authenticity, and then restore them according to the original 1948 specifications, of course using genuine Land Rover Classic parts.
While Bronze Green is the colour that’s generally been associated with this legendary vehicle, prospective customers will be offered a choice of four other period finishes as well, which are Light Green, RAF Blue, Dove Grey and Poppy Red.
Once customers choose the base vehicle for their ‘Reborn’ Series 1 with the help of Land Rover Classic’s expert team, they will be given access to the workshop at the Defender production centre in Solihull to follow the restoration process. “The launch of the Reborn initiative represents a fantastic opportunity for customers to own a valuable and collectable automotive icon. Reborn showcases Land Rover Classic’s expertise in restoring and maintaining our loyal customers’ prized Land Rovers,” said Tim Hannig, director, Jaguar Land Rover Classic, adding that it also demonstrates the brand’s commitment to supporting customers with original and genuine parts for Land Rover models that have been out for production for longer than 10 years.
The ‘Reborn’ programme has been launched at the Techno-Classica show in Essen, Germany, where Land Rover expects customers to view and put the payment down for this highly collectible classic. The show started yesterday and will be on until April 10.
