Tesla launches Model X and Model S in the UAE

Electric carmaker will expand its charging infrastructure significantly by installing a number of new stations across the country by end of the year

In what is a landmark development for alternate energy mobility in the UAE, Tesla has launched its Model S and Model X vehicles in the country. The American brand, which is among the world’s leading manufacturers of electric vehicles, has already begun accepting online orders for these two models. Those who wish to place their orders for a Tesla can visit the brand’s online design studio to customise and order the vehicle of their choice.

The dedicated online platform for the UAE, which was launched in Dubai yesterday, is supported by a pop-up store in The Dubai Mall, Tesla Ranger service, as well as service centre, which is already under construction near the second interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road, and is scheduled to open in July.  Sheikh Zayed Road which will open in July. Additionally, Tesla will also open a store and service centre in Abu Dhabi next year.

The brand has also opened two Supercharging locations at The Last Exit in Jebel Ali and in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, which will allow drivers to recharge their vehicles in much less time than with conventional chargers. To cater to potential increase in demand, Tesla will soon open five more Superchargers in various locations across the country. And to supplement the Destination chargers that are already established at 26 locations in the UAE, an additional 50 of the relatively slower stations will be put in place by the end of this year.

Prices start from AED 275,000 for Model S and AED 344,000 for Model X.
