Even though we can’t see that much of it from this teaser image that has just been released on the interwebs, from what we can see, we think the Mercedes-Maybach Coupe is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. And, it’s massive too.
Mercedes-Benz has given us a first glimpse at the new coupe from ultra-luxury division Maybach and we’re still trying to pick our jaws off from the floor. It doesn’t have an official name yet but we’re all going with Mercedes-Maybach Coupe for now - but what is for certain is that it looks like it will be breathtaking – even if all we have to go by for now is a dimly lit photo that shows just the top half. But that is enough to have made our hearts skip a beat. Or maybe that’s just high cholesterol, we’re not sure, but we love what we’re seeing so far.
All we know about it is that it will be almost six metres long according to Maybach, but we’ve been staring at the teaser image with our noses to the screen and have noticed a few interesting design details. Apart for the fact that it remarkably long, the elegant coupe has a long bonnet and a teardrop-shaped cabin. Best of all however, is the way the rear plunges down and the curved beltline is a lovely touch too. There also seems to be just the right amount of chrome trim – but there’s likely to be more however Maybach knows how much is too much so this thing definitely won’t look gaudy. Did we say we love this car yet?
It could be based on a stretched S-Class Coupe (we wouldn’t be surprised at all if this was the case as the current Maybach S600 is based on the S-Class saloon) but whatever it is, it already looks like it has what it takes to beat all the other ultra-luxury coupes out there – and we’re saying so having only seen half the car! No doubt, it will be loaded with all the latest technologies and materials of the highest quality. We imagine Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Aston Martin are quaking in their Continentals.
The Mercedes-Maybach coupe is set to be revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance next week. We hope our knees don’t give way at full sight of the car, so we’ll just sit on the floor in case…
