This is a pretty cool looking truck - if you happen to like the colour yellow. If you do, chances are you’ll be heading to the dealership to check out the Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport, which looks a bit like the old Dodge Ram Rumble Bee, built as a homage to the Super Bee. But for those of you who don’t like that sunny shade, you’ve probably already clicked elsewhere already. So, we’re probably talking to a limited number which is good because Ram is only making 2,250 of these special editions.
When you consider that the handsome Lone Star 10th Anniversary special edition sold more than 80,000 over the last 10 years, Ram (which must have had a few cans of yellow paint sitting around from its special edition Texas-exclusive Yellow Rose of Texas pickup…) might want to think about making a few more of these 2016 model year trucks , available in Crew Cab 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. It’ll sure cause a buzz on the streets but that isn’t just because it looks like a bee; it features a 395 horsepower 5.7-litre Hemi V8 coupled to an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic, it rides on large 22in wheels (that’s the rear-wheel drive - the four-wheel-drive model rides on smaller 20in wheels), gets dual chrome-tipped exhaust, and a vented bonnet replete with black stripes. As for the cabin, it has body-coloured accent pieces but is mostly finished in black. The leather seats (they’re also black) get fancy yellow stitching and the headrests have the Ram logo, and also included is the 8.4in Uconnect system with navigation and standard rear-view camera.
“The Ram 1500 Sport offers unique features for customers who enjoy aggressive styling and great performance,” said Mike Manley – head of Ram truck brand, FCA global. “Truck buyers are very attached to their vehicles and the Stinger Yellow Sport model adds a custom appearance to the segment’s best-looking truck.”
Want one of these with that eye-searing yellow paint job? You’ll need to be armed with around Dh163,000.
