The all-new Koleos, which was unveiled at the Beijing motor show in April this year, has gone on sale in the region. Renault Middle East, which has been refreshing its model line-up over the past few months, launched the latest version of the mid-size SUV in Dubai last week.
Introduced here ahead of its launch in European markets, the Koleos range will be adapted to suit regional requirements. Apart from its all-wheel drive capability, the new Koleos also boasts a relatively high ground clearance of 210mm as well as approach and departure angles of respectively 19 degrees and 26 degrees respectively. The new Koleos is also 150mm longer overall compared to the previous model, and has a 2,705mm wheelbase, thanks to which Renault claims ‘class-leading’ cabin space with rear passengers benefitting from a generous 289mm of knee room. The French carmaker also says that the driving position, which is 150mm higher than before, is more befitting a D-segment SUV, and along with the tall, wide dashboard, will add to the overall “sense of safety and protection.”
Built on the same CMF-C/D architecture that also underpins many vehicles from the Renault-Nissan Alliance including the recently launched Talisman saloon and Kadjar crossover, and Nissan’s X-Trail and Qashqai crossovers, the new Koleos is powered by 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that’s good for 170bhp and 233Nm of torque. With a choice of either two- or four-wheel drive systems, the four-pot is mated to a continuously variable transmission.
The Koleos is available in three trim levels, with a starting price of Dh73,400, and it comes with three years or 100,000km standard manufacturer’s warranty. Renault Middle East will be organising live sales demonstrations through its Virtual Showroom at designated time slots on October 23, 25 and 27. In this novel concept, trained sales consultants will deliver a presentation and take the visitors through the car via the live demo online. In the UAE, the times are 10am, 11am, 12pm, 3pm and 5:30pm.
