Remember the Beast? The model, by Rezvani (based on the Ariel Atom) was as wild as its name would suggest. Some would say too wild what with a carbon fibre construction, spaceframe chassis, bare bone cabin and ability to hit 100kph in just 2.7 seconds. Well for those people, they have just teased a far more comfortable variant called the Beast Alpha. Er, this one might pack AC, airbags and electric windows but don’t go thinking it’s soft…

It is still feather light tipping the scales at just 750kg (thanks to a carbon fibre body) and it packs a 500 horsepower engine. So, it isn’t as cuddly as you might think. The Honda-sourced 2.4-litre supercharged motor is mated to a six-speed manual that sends the power to the rear wheels. Packing a removable hardtop along with a leather and Alcantara interior, the newbie – set to be revealed on November 16th at the Los Angeles motor show – promises to be a lot of fun. All we have to go by for now is a sketch and a photo that just shows the front right wheel but that is enough to make us feel excited. From what we can tell, the new model seems to have ditched the diagonal seam for the bonnet but it still looks quite angular overall.

“Where the original Beast product was geared towards exclusivity, the new Beast Alpha broadens our reach,” says CEO Ferris Rezvani. “It will introduce more features than ever before — a roof, air-conditioning — all while staying true to the Rezvani brand with segment-leading performance and competitive pricing.”

Technical specifications aren’t yet known for the Alpha but we don’t expect this one to be that much slower than the Beast – no matter how much more ‘plush’ it is. But, if it isn’t up to scratch, well then, there is always the 700 horsepower Beast X to keep you happy (and scared) in equal measure…
