If you like to fettle with cars then the 86 is ideal for the sheer amount of add-ons available to boost both looks and performance. But, Toyota has just revealed a new edition of its own (no, not the Shooting Brake...) which will save you all of the hassle.
The Solar Orange Limited edition – which is based on the mid-spec GT - features a Creamsicle exterior paintjob that you just can’t miss and it can be had with a High Performance Package to make the sportscar even sharper than it already is. Apart from the bright new colour, it features a GT Limited pedastal rear wing, a front aero kit and Solar Orange Limited black mirror caps. As for the cabin, the coupe gets heated seats along with lots of leather and Alcantara trim and a Grand Luxe fabric dashboard trim. The orange stitching throughout is a nice touch and if you spec the the High Performance Package, it sees the addition of Brembo brakes (with red calipers) and a set of installs Sachs shocks in all four corners. It rides on unique 17in wheels and all the extras should make it even more fun even though the 2.0-litre FA20 Boxer engine has not been touched and still puts out a little over 200bhp and 212Nm of torque and comes mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. It doesn't look bad at all but given the choice, we'd take the Initial D Concept.
Sadly, the newbie is available only for the Japanese market. Hmm, guess you’ll be tinkering with your 86 after all.
