If you’re of the opinion that current-generation Panamera is getting a bit long in the tooth (well, it is seven years old…) then, this latest teaser video by Porsche for its fast four-door will interest you.
Sadly, as you would expect from such a video, very little is given away about the new model. What it does do is let us reminisce over all the great things Stuttgart has given us; the little history lesson shows us the brand’s first offerings right up to the 918 Spyder. But, it is only at the very end of the 1 minute 18 second long film that we see anything of the next generation Panamera. Even then you don’t see much at all (but we’ve all seen plenty of spy shots). But, the thumbnail for the video shows a straight-on glimpse of its rump and what we can gather from that is that it is very 911-esque. We like it.
The taillights look pretty neat and as we’d have expected, it features the traditional Porsche script in the middle. From what we can see, it looks like the new car will be using a few design cues of the updated 911. But, the lighting element that ties the two taillights together (a bit like the 911 Targa) reminds us a little of the Charger. Dodge will be happy… There seems to be a vertical cutline running down the centre of the Panamera and we’re not sure what that is – a split tailgate maybe? We doubt that. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see when it is unveiled at the Paris motor show this October. It’ll be less bulky than the current model that much we do know and V6 and V8 petrol (and diesel) engines will continue to be offered, along with a plug-in hybrid.
