There must be a new Batman movie out, because it seems Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has built a truck that the caped crusader would rock. This is the Ram Rebel Black Edition and it’s so aggressive looking that it makes the regular model, which is pretty tough, look positively girly in comparison.

As the name suggests, it features lots of extra black trim – but you don’t just have to settle for black paint on this Black Edition as every other colour that the Ram 1500 is usually offered with will also be made available. What it does feature however is a distinctive grille, larger fender flares, darkened wheels and a cabin that is totally blacked-out. The heated seats can be had in Katskin leather and there’s loads of grey accent stitching in there too to help jazz up the interior.

Like a regular 1500 Rebel, the off-road oriented pickup will be available with a 395 horsepower and 555Nm of torque 5.7-litre Hemi V8 or a 305 horse, 364Nm 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. Both will be mated to an eight-speed automatic (four-wheel drive is mandatory with the V6, while the V8 is offered with either four- or rear-wheel drive) and it rides on a set of 33in off-road tyres, air suspension and specially-tuned Bilstein shocks.

“Adding the Rebel Black package to an already aggressive off-road truck will continue feeding the momentum Rebel is creating for the Ram Truck brand,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand and Ram Brand, FCA - Global.

It’ll be unveiled at the Detroit motor show on January 9.
