We know what you’re thinking – and no, this isn’t Batman’s new ride. That honour lies with the Ram Rebel Black Edition but we have to say, this RC F GT3 runs it very close indeed.

Lexus Gazoo Racing revealed the racecar at the Tokyo Auto Salon and although it is based on the RC F coupé, this one is barely recognizable. Just look at that massive rear wing for starters! Every contour of the body has been carved for competition; it has huge vents over and behind the front wheels, huge rear diffuser and best of all it has been painted black and doesn’t have any livery on it which really gives it a menacing look.

Set to make its North American debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona later this month (it will be competing in the GTD class of IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship with 3GT Racing and will also compete in Japanese Super GT) it’ll weigh far less than the road going version (it’s lost 544kg taking it from 1,800 to 1,256kg) and the output of the front-mounted V8 has gone from very healthy 450 horses to a whopping 540. There’s a real chance that it will compete in Europe too as chief officer and technical director, Koei Saga said, “The first step is to place four cars in races in the USA and Japan, but in the future we will nurture our RC F GT3 into a model that is loved by customers worldwide.”

Tokuo Fukuichi, president, Lexus International threw in his two cents too. “Lexus is embracing new challenges as a luxury lifestyle brand as it strives to inspire customers with amazement and excitement that exceed the imagination. Our decision to enter in customer motorsports will both refine the performance of our high-performance F models and give our customers an amazing experience,” he said.

We doubt a road going version of this GT3 would be half as aggressive looking – that’s if Lexus builds one at all, but if Bentley can give us a wild Continental GT3 then surely Lexus can too…
