Porsche has revealed a new Cayenne S Platinum Edition to help improve sales as the SUV, which made its debut in 2002, isn’t the best-seller from Stuttgary anymore. That award goes to the smaller Macan but this new edition looks rather splendid and could put it back in front as the most wanted model before an all-new Cayenne is launched sometime next year and believed to be based on the newer MLB Evo PL73 platform. So, this is a last hurrah for the current gen.

Porsche is throwing the lot at the fast family hauler to get customers – who can choose from five new metallic colours including Cararra White, Jet Black, Mahogany, Purpurite and Rhodium Silver - to look at it again. The Platinum Edition features loads of goodies and some of the highlights include bi-xenon headlights with dynamic technology, power steering ‘plus’ with front and rear park assist, a set of 21in Sport Edition wheels that have been coated in a satin finish and use a split 10-spoke design, rear tinted windows, loads of Alcantara trim in the cabin, special door sill panels that read “Platinum Edition” and heated front seats. The drivetrain remains unchanged – it still packs a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 that makes 420 horses and 550Nm of torque.
