While the Geneva motor show witnessed several interesting global debuts, the new McLaren 720S was undoubtedly among the showstoppers. And the British carmaker’s bespoke division didn’t waste any time in following up this significant reveal with its highly individualized take on the supercar. The bespoke car, dubbed 720S Velocity and personalised by McLaren Special Operations, is aimed at giving potential customers a glimpse of the extent to which they can customise the new Super Series car.

“The MSO mission is to fulfil customer desire for exclusivity in their choice of McLaren,” says Ansar Ali, managing director of McLaren Special Operations. “The lean, sculpted beauty of the new 720S provides the perfect starting point for owners to be creative and the specification of this MSO 720S ‘Velocity’ showcases a taste of the customisation options that are possible,” he adds.

The most obvious change is the dual-tone exterior finish that is a mix of two specially formulated hues:  Nerello Red, used on the front and upper body panels of the car, and Volcano Red that covers the sides and rear of the car. The paintwork is complemented by metallic bronze lightweight alloy wheels, and extensive use of carbon fibre on the exterior, including the bonnet, rear deck vent, rear aero bridge and full length sill cover. The cabin gets the MSO treatment too with Carbon Black Alcantara trim and contrasting Harissa Red leather highlights on the fascia, steering wheel, doors and the sports seats.

There are no changes to power or performance, so the M480T V8 making 710bhp (720PS) of power and 770Nm of torque remains. Anyway, that mill doesn’t need an upgrade as it’s already good for a 0-100kph sprint in just 2.9 seconds, and 200kph in just 7.8 seconds.

Priced at £335,000 (Dh1.5 million), Velocity is just one of five MSO themes available for the new McLaren Super Series, the others being ‘GT’; ‘Pacific’; ‘Track’; and ‘Stealth’.
