Three years. That’s how long ago McLaren started its local operations in China, and no, it’s not long at all but that hasn’t stopped the British carmaker from rolling out a 570 GT Commemorative Edition which will be displayed at the Shanghai motor show between April 19 and 28.

Built to celebrate three years of success in the country, just three units will be built each one finished in Pacific Blue paint with black trim – a nod to the original launch colour combo of the GT. The rear bumper, wing, and door skirt will be sculpted out of carbon fibre while the interior gets Areia Cream Nappa leather. The steering wheel is finished in Carbon Black and it packs a new Bowers & Wilkins 12 speaker audio system while some of the other tech includes a vehicle nose lift and a rear-view camera. The drivetrain remains the same and since the twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 produces 562bhp why should it change? The 570 GT can hit 100kph from rest in just 3.4 seconds. That is plenty fast. McLaren will also be displaying the new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 710 horsepower 720S supercar at the show finished in a previously unseen Saros exterior paint colour combined with a Jet Black/Xenon Yellow leather interior.

“McLaren has enjoyed three years of success in China and we are delighted to be premiering the new 720S at Auto Shanghai 2017 as we look forward to further growth in this market,” commented Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren Automotive. “Customer interest in McLaren cars continues to increase rapidly and we are pleased to recognize this not only by introducing the second generation of McLaren’s Super Series product family, but also a 570GT Commemorative Edition for China.”
