We can’t wait for the middle of August and it isn’t just because the Premier League season will have kicked off by then (come on Everton!) No, the 17th of the month will be a rather momentous occasion as this will be the day that BMW unveils what looks to be a new roadster!
On its Facebook page, the carmaker says “the road will never be the same.” Now if that doesn’t get you excited you probably don’t have any blood in your veins. Some people have been commenting saying that it looks like a roofless 8 Series, or some sort of targa-top i8. But we reckon what this shadowy teaser image is actually of is the new Z4 concept - which will share DNA with the new Toyota Supra. We love the long bonnet, steeply raked windscreen, the targa-like roof and the pointy buttress extending above the cockpit. It will have a variety of motors including a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol producing 194bhp mated to a six-speed manual or eight-speed auto. A Z4M variant could produce around 450bhp from its turbocharged straight-six…
It’ll be revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California and that isn’t a surprise as BMW has a history of revealing show cars there. Last year it brought Elvis Presley's fully restored 1957 507 and before that it displayed the stunning 2002 Hommage and the 3.0 CSL Hommage.
Roll on August 17! We can’t wait to see this one in full detail.
