Polestar, Swedish carmaker Volvo’s performance arm, has unveiled its latest take on the Volvo S60 and V60 models. The 2018 editions of the S60 and V60 Polestar get additional aerodynamic components made from lightweight carbon fibre that promise to increase downforce by 30 per cent for better performance and handling.

The exterior aero package has been developed jointly by the engineers of Polestar and its motorsport partner Cyan Racing, apparently with data and learnings derived from the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) programme. The additions include a new front splitter, side sills and a rear spoiler extension, all in carbon fibre. Other changes include high-gloss black Polestar diamond cut wheels, carbon fibre door mirror casings and a new exterior colour option; Bursting Blue Metallic. The interior has also been updated with new seat upholstery, blue contrast stitching and Polestar embroidering. Apart from these visual upgrades, certain components have also been changed, including an Öhlins shock absorber system and six-piston Brembo brake callipers with 371mm discs.

Only 1,500 of these models will be produced, with all those receiving a unique number on the tread plate.
