To mark the 50th birthday of the Hilux next year, Toyota has created a special edition called the Invincible 50 and this hard-as-nails truck sure looks good – and is worthy of the new moniker.
Based on the existing Invincible trim, the Japanese giant has chosen the Frankfurt motor show to reveal the robust newbie. The Hilux first went on sale in 1968 and the 4x4 has been a firm favourite ever since. Toyota has sold more than 18 million around the world and it is known for its reliability having conquered difficult terrains including the Antarctic and the Dakar Rally.
The double-cab special edition features a silver body along with fancy ‘Invincible 50’ decals, matte black rollover and side bars, and rides on special 18in matte black alloys wrapped with massive BF Goodrich All Terrain tyres. It also packs black brush guards, wheel arches, under-floor running gear protection, and has an aftermarket bedliner along with a large tool box. The interior features model-specific scuff plates, floor mats, and a leather hand brake. All in all this is a neat way to mark its upcoming 50th.
