Honda Middle East has launched the all-new 2018 version of its Odyssey MPV in the GCC. Into its fifth generation, the people carrier, of which Honda has sold more than 2.7 million units, has received a significant redesign, a new 10-speed transmission and a host of new technology features.
The styling changes include a new signature ‘flying wing’ front grille, LED headlights for the top-spec Touring model, a more pronounced beltline, wraparound side and rear glass that gives it a floating roof appearance, and taillights with new LED graphics.
With the “Magic Slide” second–row seats, the new Odyssey’s seating can be customised to four different modes. In Full Mode, it can accommodate eight passengers comfortably with ample head and leg room, while in Wide Mode, with the centre seat removed and two outboard seats in their outer most positions, it provides a wide walkthrough to the third row. In Super Mode, the outboard seats slide laterally through five selectable positions allowing for easy access to third row, and finally in Buddy Mode, the outer seats can be placed next to each other in the centre of the vehicle.
It also features several other convenience and safety features such as Height Adjustable Power Tailgate, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Blind Spot Information System, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, Pedestrian Detection System, Lane Keeping Assist System and adaptive cruise control.
One of the new features that caught our attention is the Honda Cabin Watch camera with night vision allows the driver and the front passenger to view the rear passengers on the dashboard screen, which we’re sure will be appreciated by parents who would want to keep an eye on their kids seated at the back. In addition, the Cabin Talk feature allows you to easily talk with the passengers in the second and third rows seats using the vehicle’s speaker systems or wireless headphones.
