Lamborghini Dubai this week launched the all-new Urus Super SUV. Revealed at the brand’s sprawling showroom on Shaikh Zayed Road, which incidentally is the world’s largest Lambo facility, the Urus will be available for order at a starting price of $214,500 (Dh787,215) excluding VAT.
Sharing its MLB Evo platform with the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne and next-gen VW Touareg, and powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 that makes 641bhp at 6,000rpm and 850Nm from 2,250rpm, the Lamborghini Urus is capable of dispatching 0-100kph in just 3.6sec, 0-200kph in 12.8sec and a top speed of 305kph. And much like Sant Agata’s supercars, it comes with an ‘Anima’ drive mode selector on the centre console, with Strada, Sport, Corsa, ‘Sabbia’ (Sand), ‘Terra’ (Mud/Rocks/Gravel) and ‘Neve’ (Snow) settings.
There’s a locking centre differential that distributes torque in a 40:60 split to front and rear axles at crusing speeds, but depending on the driving conditions, the system can send up to 70 per cent of twist to the front wheels or 87 per cent to rear. While the Urus is purported to be off-road capable, we expect to see these mostly in mall car parks, beach road or JBR.
“We are extremely excited to be here today with our partner in Dubai,” said Stefano Domenicali, chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini after unveiling the Urus here. “This is a very important market for us already and even more so now that the Lamborghini Urus, our Super SUV, has arrived,” he added. The top executive also said with the Urus, the company expects to “at least” double its sales volumes in the region.
The first customers in the UAE will get delivery of the Urus by summer this year.
