The Paris motor show will have lots of shiny new metal on display and we can’t wait for it to kick off later this month (28th September) so we can get a closer look at everything including this swoopy new GLC43 Coupe.

The five-door features a biturbocharged V6 and a retuned suspension which should hopefully mean this Mercedes will be fun to drive. It has a AMG-tuned 3.0-litre that makes 362 horsepower and 520Nm of torque. That will be enough grunt to send the crossover from 0-100kph in just 4.8 seconds and it also has a claimed fuel consumption of 8.4 litres per 100km. The power will be handled by Merc's nine-speed automatic transmission (reworked the transmission’s software to deliver shorter shift times) and the newbie will feature Mercedes' usual Dynamic Select modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus) while the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system will have a torque split of 31 per cent front and 69 per cent rear. It will also pack bigger brakes and a similar version of the GLC's Air Body Control suspension system that can lift the fastback crossover to give it more ground clearance to help tame the dunes. Little dunes mind as those tyres wrapped around 20in wheels are definitely for the road…

We like the AMG appearance package fitted to the exterior especially the large rear spoiler, the diamond-pattern grille, and quadruple exhaust tips. The cabin is equally impressive and gets a specific MB-Tex and microfiber upholstery (it can be upgraded to leather if you like) while the instrumentation gets a checkered-flag pattern, and a flat-bottomed multifunctional steering wheel. The red seat belts are a nice touch. You can record lap times with the included Race Timer too. This one will make a nice rival for the likes of the BMW X4, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi SQ5 and the Porsche Macan.
