Every year up to 200,000 tuning fans gather in the Austrian town of Reifnitz for the legendary Wörthersee meeting organised by Volkswagen. What better place then for the global premiere of your latest model? And VW’s Czech subsidiary Skoda is doing just that.
Although not a completely new model, Skoda is revealing its Rapid Sport concept car at the event. Sporting a Corrida Red and Steel Grey metallic paint job, and fitted with 19in alloys painted in the same colours, the Rapid Sport looks much more aggressive than the stock car thanks to a redesigned bumper, front spoiler, a big air intake, revised side skirts and a larger rear bumper with two integrated exhaust pipes.
Not much has been divulged about the interior, but Skoda has confirmed Rapid Sport will have Recaro seats, a sport steering wheel and illuminated door sill plates. Nor has the carmaker released any details about the engine, although we expect it to be a tweaked version of the 1.4-litre TSI, which is the most powerful powerplant in the Rapid range.
