Honda had a lurid dream, or nightmare, and then came up with the world’s fastest lawn-mower

If only Honda had as much enthusiast for its road-going product range as for its lawn-mowing equipment…

This Honda HF2620 Lawn Tractor houses a 1,000cc motorcycle engine from a VTR 1000F Firestorm worth 109 horsepower, giving the grass-killer an astounding top speed of 210kph and a 0-100kph acceleration time of just four seconds. Go ahead and line it up next to a Porsche 911.

The devious plan came about through a partnership between Honda UK and its title-winning British Touring Car Championship partner, Team Dynamics, to create what’s possibly the fastest lawn-mower in the world.

Best of all Team Dynamics decided to go for a ‘sleeper’ mower, which means it retains its factory look while shrieking at 130db.

The chassis is an all-new fabricated chromoly structure and the suspension and wheels came off a Honda ATV.

Team Dynamics engineers even lowered weight by going with a fibre-glass cutter deck while the grass-packing bag now does service as a fuel tank, an oil cooler and a secondary radiator.

Since the whole thing weighs 140kg the power to weight ratio is a ridiculous 532bhp per tonne, which means the super-soft tyres are a welcome touch.
