Our 2009 awards ceremony was a humble affair replete with rickety chairs but just five years later, the wheels Car of the Year has grown into one of the industry’s premier events in the Middle East’s motoring calendar.
The fifth annual awards ceremony, held at the sprawling Ritz Carlton hotel at Jumeirah Beach Residence, and sponsored by ENOC, was attended by all of the major players but it was Umberto Cini, managing director of Maserati General Overseas Markets, who had the biggest smile of the evening as he walked away with two awards; the Best Sports Saloon and the highly-prized overall Car of the Year for the Trident’s Ghibli.
All in all, it was a terrific night and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event.
