We love the sound of a massive V8 being revved, hard, early in the morning. It is music to our ears - but spare a thought for your neighbours who may not appreciate the roar like us petrolheads do. We know - weird… Anyway, those who dislike the rumble from a throaty exhaust will be pleased to read that Ford has a solution and it’s called ‘Good Neighbour Mode’; it’s an active exhaust system that can be programmed for quiet operation at certain times.

The Blue Oval is offering the new option for the 2018 Mustang GT which will help to quieten down the car meaning Mr. and Mrs. Smith will likely still invite you to their monthly barbeque… Pft, we’d happily be banned from that and rev the bolts off that 5.0-litre instead! Even though there are a bunch of cars with active exhaust systems which produce more or less noise on demand, Ford says its Good Neighbour Mode is the industry’s first system with both a quiet start mode and a timer that can be programmed to automatically set the exhaust note to quiet during certain times.

So, you can start your Pony in the early hours of the morning without your neighbours being disturbed… and then presumably leave a nice set of elevens on the blacktop which we’re sure they will hear…
