If you were at Cityscape Global 2017, you would have definitely noticed a buzz around the Dubai Land Department stand. That’s where Sedric — Volkswagen’s first self-driving car featuring an integrated mobility concept for the road traffic of tomorrow — was on display. It made its Middle East debut to much fanfare.

The concept vehicle (which was first seen at the Geneva motor show in March) has been developed for level 5 autonomous driving. That means a human driver is not needed.

“We increasing the pace of development and intensifying investments in these important innovative fields of digitalisation and autonomy. Our vision is to become a leading provider of sustainable mobility by the year 2025,” said Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn, head of research and development, Volkswagen Group.
