It was just this September at the Paris show that Mercedes-AMG revealed its GT C Roadster. Now, our spy photographer has spotted a hard-top version of the GT C. Although we already knew a coupé variant is in the works, this is the first time we’ve got a set of photos, and that too showing the car without any camouflage. And our snapper says this was part of an official photoshoot for the special Edition 50 of the Mercedes AMG GT C Coupé.

To be slotted between the GT S and GT R, the GT C Coupé seems to have a wider track than its Roadster sibling. Its positioning will mean less power and performance than the GT R, but more of everything compared to the GT S and the GT. So, expect a 557bhp V8 under the long bonnet. There are styling cues borrowed from the track-focused GT R, including the grille and wide fenders. Rear shots show a GT Edition 50 badge, which gives it away as a commemorative model to celebrate AMG’s 50th anniversary in 2017.

With this addition, Merc-AMG will have a rival for most of Porsche’s 911 offerings, including the Carrera, Carrera S, Turbo and the GT3. We also expect a GT Black Series to be unleashed sometime soon to take on the 911 GT2.
