We already know that Lamborghini is working on a hardcore version of the Huracán, likely to be called the Huracán Superleggera, as many prototypes have been spotted in the past few months. But this week, our spy photographer has sent us images of a Spyder variant doing the rounds near the arctic circle. Inspired by the GT3 and the Super Trofeo racecars, the Superleggera is expected to get a slight increase in power, with the 5.2-litre V10 likely to be massaged to put out as much as 611bhp, which is the same as the Super Trofeo car. This will be a bump of 10 horses over the standard Huracán Spyder.
It’s also likely to be stripped-out relative to the standard car, with more lightweight material used in its construction. The suspension, steering and transmission are all likely to be tweaked for added performance. There’s still a lot of speculation regarding the new model’s name. While most of us expect it to be called Huracán Spyder Superleggera, being the spiritual successor to the Gallardo Spyder Performante, it’s also possible that it could carry the Performante moniker.
