It has just been a few days since BMW unveiled the latest generation of its X3 crossover. While the X3 M40i is the most powerful variant announced as of now, there’s a full-blown M version in the works. Our snapper has spotted the hot X3 M testing at the Nürburgring.
The prototype seen here appears to be closer to production spec than the ones seen earlier. Apart from the production ready lights front and back, you can also see M-specific air intakes, quad exhausts and a big spoiler at the back. While the X3 M40i will take on the likes of Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and the Audi SQ5, the X3 M will with its twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine will take on the GLC 63 and GLC 63 S.
The engine, which is the same block used in the M3 and the M4, is expected to make around 450 horsepower, driving all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. As afar as dynamics is concerned, it’s going to be second to none in the segment.
