The upcoming 8 Series has been spotted again and this time it’s clear that BMW isn’t quite as concerned as keeping some of its design cues under wraps like it was earlier because the latest round of photos reveal quite a few details.
For starters, we can deduce that the newbie will not look as aggressive as the 8 Series concept which is a bit of a shame because that thing was gorgeous. The front end lacks the large twin kidney grille that was positioned low down resulting in a rather dramatically drooping bonnet. Instead, it appears that the production version will house a far more conventional and smaller grille that sits flush between the headlights. Speaking of which, they’re not as sharp looking as the squinty ones on the concept. The side vents in the lower fascia have been toned down too as have those on the profile and they’re smaller.
At least the sloping roofline has been retained while around the back the exhaust tips have moved to the far edges of the rear bumper. They were far closer on the concept but overall the big coupé looks rather elegant and it will be joined by a convertible body style, sportier M trim and maybe even a four-door Gran Coupe (if the rumours are to be believed) by 2019.
