Somebody check what they’re spiking Munich’s coffee with, because BMW has gone into overdrive, preparing a slate of new models for launch.
First up the car Gestapo caught an entire BMW test group on its way from Germany to Italy, where they were busy putting the final touches to the upcoming 4 Series Cabriolet, benchmarking it with the Coupé and the BMW M3 four-door around the Alps. They’ve obviously set their targets high, and we’ll be sure to give you more information about what to expect as soon as we try the drop-top’s brother, the 4 Series tin-top, in Portugal later this month.
Then they moved back into home territory to catch the best undisguised glimpse yet of the new hybrid i3, which will almost certainly be available with two powertrain options when it reaches the market as a 2014 model. No confirmation from BMW whether one option is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8.
Finally, the crafty spies got their first look into the cabin of the i brand’s halo model, the upcoming i8 supercar. These first pictures of its interior reveal the electric speedometer, newly designed three-spoke steering wheel, new door handles and a single large air vent on the centre console, all pointing to a completely new look in terms of cabin design for the i brand.
