I’ve been enjoying wheeling the S90 in spite of its idiosyncrasies that I mentioned last week, and I’ve found another — but to be fair, this one is rather dependent on, er, how many layers of fat you have…

The second row has plenty of leg- and headroom and the seats themselves are very comfortable; however, to enjoy the comfort afforded to you back there you need to squeeze yourself in via a smallish entry. Since four out of five members of the wheels team are clinically obese, ingress and egress is a little cumbersome and you may struggle too; obesity in the UAE is a major issue with 70 per cent of men and 67 per cent of women aged 15 and older being overweight.  This worrying stat called for some comfort food and so while grabbing my burger and fries at the drive-through, I noticed a neat feature of the posh saloon — its two-speed electric windows. Gently push the button and the windows casually roll down but a harder prod sees them drop much faster. Cool, if a little pointless, but a special mention to the clarity of the reversing camera; I’d go as far as saying it’s the best in the business.
