All the talk about the Prius usually centres on its futuristic drivetrain and impressive fuel efficiency and rightly so, but in my third week with the Toyota, I’ve come to appreciate something else — its cabin.

The black and white interior looks great and has a soothing quality about it, while the shape of the dash is unlike any I have ever seen before. I love the distinctive blue trim around the air-conditioning vents, while visibility is very good indeed. I still find the position and design of the little gear lever a little strange but I am getting used to it.

The wireless charging platform for smartphones is very useful (I never run out of juice) and on a practical note, five adults can be seated in total comfort and if you drop the second row you get 700 litres of boot space. So far so good, more next week.
