I am a rather amiable chap and like to help everyone whenever I can. So when Stefan, our snapper, asked me if he could borrow the CR-V so that he could haul a bootful of camera equipment to a far away location for a photo shoot, I turned his polite request down flat. I’ve really come to like the Honda over the past five weeks and wouldn’t relinquish the key for anything. Well, almost anything. I had a sudden change of heart because I’m a nice guy; no, it had nothing to do with the fact that the phone rang and the voice on the other line asked if I’d like the revised GTI for a few days. Promise...

Alright, it had everything to do with it but the fact that it took a feisty Golf for me to part with the completely redesigned and reengineered family hauler speaks volumes of how impressed the team and I have been with it. During the course of our long-term test it has not put a single foot wrong; it has always cranked right up, its ice-cold AC’s cooled the cabin right down, and overall, it’s genuinely been fun to wheel. It has proven to be ever so practical (Stef says he managed to get an entire studio-worth of kit in the back with room to spare) and reliable and so it was only fitting that our expert car-snapper took a fetching farewell shot of this very likeable Honda.

I’m not a fan of SUVs at all but when they’re this capable not to mention handsomely styled and so well-appointed, it’s hard not to be swayed. It’s left wheels HQ and we’re already missing it. That says it all really.
