Even though it is still pretty capable, we can’t hide from the fact that we miss having a V8 for the Raptor. The first gen had one and we loved it but then things changed for the second gen with it adopting a twin-turbo V6. But now, thanks to Texas tuner PaxPower, the big motor is back for the Ford. Yeehaw! They’ve given us enthusiasts what we want, and that’s a Raptor with a lot of rumble.
The EcoBoost truck just doesn’t sound right but this one, which starts out as a base F-150 with a 5.0-litre eight-cylinder engine and then gets the tuner’s OEM-quality Raptor conversion kit, will be music to everyone’s ears. It also gets the Raptor suspension, body, and chassis components along with a 2.9-litre Whipple supercharger and dual-exhaust bringing power to 758 horses. That puts the V6’s 450 figure firmly in the shade. However, more than anything else, we love the massive ‘V8’ decals on the body — you know, just in case anyone doubts what’s under the bonnet of this one!
The conversion takes about a month says PaxPower and you get two years warranty for all the parts. So, what are you waiting for? Bring that mighty roar back to your Raptor!
