Well, I saw it advertised online back in September 2017 and it only had 10,800km on the clock. I went to check it out and after a test drive I decided to go ahead and buy it and haven’t looked back, it’s a brilliant little car with bags of performance.
I had been tinkering with the idea of getting a 1M as there were a few available on the market however I decided to go with the M2 and I am so glad that I did.
You sure made a good choice — it was our 2017 Car of the Year! We think these are tremendous fun to drive — how thrilling is yours?
It is certainly the car of my life at the moment! Mine has a manual gearbox too which makes it even more of a thrill for me.
It’s had a fair bit of work done to it…
Mine has all sorts of goodies from AC-Schnitzer fitted from the dealer such as a High Performance Intercooler, ECU upgrade and Exhaust Silencer with black tailpipes and I also have Öhlins Road and Track suspension.
It has an output of 420bhp which is 50bhp more than the standard M2 which makes it very exciting to drive. Now, you have to be on the top of your game when tracking this machine.
And it’s at the track that you get the most out of it…
Yes, that’s correct — I enjoy this car the most on the track as this is where I can truly test the limits of this tail happy Bimmer.
I am a regular at the Dubai Autodrome and also a member of Ninth Degree Car Club and we have multiple gatherings every month, and a lot of exclusive track days and drives which are always fun.

Do you plan to do any more work on it? What would you like to do?
The brakes are in need of an upgrade now, maybe I’ll go bigger to improve the stopping power and maybe a downpipe in the near future to increase exhaust velocity for improved horsepower and torque, but other than that I am happy with the way it is.
In fact, I am really proud of my car, it gets lots of complimentary comments and I take all the negative energy about the BMW brand in general on the chin. You can’t please everyone!
You’re not wrong there. Aside from the performance and handling, what else do you like about it and why?
I like my Xpel Stealth (satin) paint protection which gives the car the same finish as BMW’s Frozen Paint range. It stands out a lot and I’m sure it gets a positive reaction from people – well that’s what it looks like as I roar past but I don’t stop to ask! My wife has come around to liking it but my son absolutely love’s it.

It was about 13 years ago when I first started to work on cars and the itch has grown ever since.
My first car was a Fiesta and since the Ford I have had a Honda Civic FN2 Type R, Integra Type-R DC2 track car, VW Golf GTI Mk5 track car and a GTI Mk2. They were all fabulous cars and a lot of fun on the track.
What’s the best car you have ever driven or had a ride in?
The Porsche GT3; it is the best all-round car to drive as a daily or to destroy the track with.
Final question, what is your dream car?
1992 Honda NSX-R (JDM).
