Drift, the Autobot from Transformers, will be er, played by a Mercedes-AMG GTR R in the upcoming sequel, The Last Knight. The last time we saw him on the silver screen, he was a black and blue 2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. And a Sikorsky S-97 Raider Helicopter…
Director Michael Bay will use a modified GT R for his latest flick and we can’t wait to see what sort of mischief it gets up to. Bay already revealed a new-look Camaro (Bumblebee, who has a solo movie scheduled for 2018 and a further sequel due in 2019…) for the movie but the Merc will be the one we will be looking out for.
It will be painted black and feature red stripes and will ride on a new set of wheels. The sinister look will be backed up by the cars 577 horsepower 4.0-litre biturbo V8 – but it’ll no doubt have a lot more oomph up its sleeve for the big screen and get up to much more thrilling things than just go fast. But, we’d happily take a ‘stock’ AMG GT R what with its new gear ratios for its seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, carbon fender flares, functional active aerodynamics, a lightweight exhaust, and new wheels with sticky tyres. Yep, that’d do us.
Another cool car to keep your eyes open for will be Barricade, a Ford Mustang which has been extensively modified to look like the meanest cop car of all time. How mean? Well, with a motto of “To punish and enslave,” according to director Bay, we can safely say, very.
The movie will hit cinemas next year but the Mercedes-AMG GT R is already available for sale. Hmm, got enough cash – why not go ahead and make your own version of Drift? Actually, don’t.
