Nissan Motor Co has announced the appointment of Peyman Kargar to the role of senior vice-president and chairman of its luxury arm, Infiniti Motor Company. Kargar will step into the role of chairman at the brand’s new headquarters in Yokohama, Japan starting June 1, 2020.
Kargar has more than 23 years of experience in the auto industry, primarily with the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Kargar has been a familiar face in the regional automobile scene in his position as chairman and senior vice-president of Africa, Middle East and India Region for Nissan since 2017. Prior to this, in 2010 he was responsible for expanding Renault’s business in the Middle East as Managing Director for the Renault Group in Iran. In 2012, he was promoted to Managing Director Middle East Operations, responsible for all industrial and commercial activities across 13 countries.
“Peyman is a proven, global leader joining the Infiniti team in a very exciting time for the brand. I look forward to seeing how he will usher in the next chapter for Infiniti,” said Christian Vandenhende, vice-chief performance officer and chief quality officer of Nissan, to whom Kargar will report.
In his new role, Karger will oversee the global marketing, sales and operations of the Infiniti business worldwide.
