Lotus has upped the ante on its hard-core Exige - and if you thought the Exige Sport 350 was extreme, the newbie will leave it in its dust!
The British carmaker has gone to town on its top of the range sportscar making it lighter, faster and even more focused. The Toyota-derived 3.5-litre supercharged V6 (mated to a six-speed manual with forged aluminium paddle shifters for the optional six-speed automatic) has been fitted with a bunch of goodies such as a new supercharger pulley, fuel pump, engine management system and a new exhaust system too. This has upped power to 375 horses (380 metric horsepower, thus the name) and it has 410Nm of torque. And when you consider that it weighs just 1,110kg (it is 26kg lighter than the Sport 350 thanks to the new titanium exhaust, carbon fibre roof and carbon fibre tailgate) the weight reduction helps it to hit 0-100kph in just 3.7 seconds and it has a top speed of 286kph.
The weight loss has also worked wonders on the cars handling too making it sharper than ever (the Nitron adjustable dampers and Eibach anti-roll bars do their bit too) while the aero package produces 140kg of downforce. It also packs Lotus's Dynamic Performance Management system and has two drive modes (Sport and Race) and rides on a set of sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres measuring 215/45 ZR17 at the front and 265/35 ZR18 at the back.
