Škoda is on a roll. The Czech subsidiary of German behemoth Volkswagen has been churning out several new and significantly updated models over the past one year. Now, the automaker has teased what is believed to be its first electric vehicle. The teaser image shows the profile of what looks like a four-door coupe, which Škoda says previews the brand’s new design language inspired by the Czech crystal glass art.

From the silhouette, which shows a sloping roofline and SUV-like proportions, it seems this concept could be a preview of a Coupe SUV based on the Kodiaq. Since a Kodiaq Coupé is set to go on sale in China a couple of years from now, it makes sense that the concept, likely to be called the Vision E, makes its debut at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show. Unlike many other carmakers, Škoda has a history of taking most its concepts into production. The 2011 Vision D materialised as the Rapid and Octavia while the 2014 Vision C heralded the new Superb flagship saloon. And more recently, the Vision S concept shown in 2016 saw fruition in the Kodiaq seven-seat SUV. So, we are optimistic that the Vision E will also make it to production pretty soon. And if the teaser profile is anything to go by, it’s going to be quite a looker.

There’s nothing available by way of official information as of now, but with the Shanghai show happening in less than a month, we should be able to bring you all the essential details in the coming weeks.
