The all-new 508 is here and it is aiming to shake-up the D segment thanks to a plethora of luxury features and tech not to mention those handsome new looks.
Revealed recently at Peugeot’s new boutique store in Yas Mall (similar mall-based stores will be opening in Dubai) the radical new saloon is available now in showrooms across the UAE starting from around Dh97,000.
Three trim levels are being offered — the entry level ‘Active’, mid-trim ‘Allure’ and the top-of-the-range ‘GT Line’ model.
The 508 has been completely re-imagined and the robust new exterior sure deserves praise; it moves away from the conventional four-door shape and has evolved towards a five-door fastback design while its height has been reduced to help give it the aerodynamic lines of a coupé. It gains a prominent grille (with the iconic Peugeot lion) flanked by LED headlights while the LED taillights are framed in a glossy black strip. Overall it is sleeker and has a sportier stance while the interior includes premium materials such as Nappa leather and cutting-edge technology including the latest evolution of its trademark Peugeot i-Cockpit, now into its third generation. It includes a compact steering wheel, 8 -10in HD touch-screen and a head-up display. Also, the front seats feature an eight-pocket pneumatic massage system with five different programmes, there’s a wide-opening panoramic roof and several sockets for charging portable devices while the impressive array of equipment and driving aids includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Positioning Assist, Latest-generation Active Safety Brake, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Alert, High Beam Assist, Speed Limit recognition, Extended traffic sign recognition, Active Blind Spot Monitoring system and Visiopark 2 (360° vision).
Power comes from the PureTech 165 horsepower 1.6-litre turbo engine which has been mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Samir Cherfan, Groupe PSA Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing in Africa and Middle East, said; “With the 508, our designers and engineers raised the bar in terms of refinement and use of premium materials and the very latest technology. We have a radical, differentiated car, which is now a genuine challenger against rival premium brands in the segment.”
