With over 47 million units dotted around the world, it’s pretty clear that there is a lot of love for the Corolla which, for the 2020 model year, will be available as a Hybrid Electric for the first time ever in the UAE.

Launched by Al-Futtaim Toyota, the all-new saloon features a brand new dynamic exterior design, while the hybrid tech gives it a staggeringly impressive fuel economy of 3.62 litres per 100km. Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, it has a lower centre of gravity, a 60 per cent more rigid body shell and multi-link suspension that contribute to better handling and stability. Three powertrain options are available; these include a newly developed 2.0-litre four-cylinder Dynamic Force engine that produces 168 horses mated to a new 10-speed Sequential Shiftmatic transmission and a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 121 horses paired with a Multidrive 7S seven-speed automatic. The new electrified hybrid powertrain combines two power sources consisting of a petrol engine and two electric motors producing 97 horses and combined power of 121 horses mated to CVT transmission.

The smart interior is accentuated with an extensive range of features which vary based on the trim level. Occupants benefit from AC vents for the rear seat, a one-touch moonroof, a 4.2 or 7.0in colour multi-information display (MID) in the cluster gauge, seven-inch touch-screen multimedia infotainment display, reversing camera, cruise control, six-speaker sound system, multi-adjustable power driver seat, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.

Saud Abbasi, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota, said, “We are confident the new model will carry the legacy of the Corolla nameplate even further.”

It’s on sale now across Al-Futtaim Toyota showrooms starting from Dh71,900.
