There aren’t many new vehicles available in the market for the princely sum of $9,000 (Dh36,000) - but MG Motor is offering its latest model, the MG5 for this astonishingly low price (in entry level guise and excluding VAT).
Available from showrooms from this month, that sure seems like a bargain for the compact saloon which boasts attractive aesthetics and an impressive list of hi-tech features. The top spec version, also on sale across the Middle East this month, can be yours for $12,600 (excluding VAT). The arrival of the all-new car is the latest stage in the expansion of the British-born brand’s Middle East car lineup. Totally new from the ground-up, it features lightening blade design LED headlights, daytime running lights and chrome Wingspan grille. The double curve of the side panels serves to accentuate the new model’s sporty credentials. With a 2,680mm wheelbase it benefits from best-in-class interior space and also has a large 512 litre boot.
Inside, it gets plenty of tech and kit such as an on-board infotainment system including a 10.1in touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Cruise control comes as standard, while push button start, keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats with manual lumbar support for both driver and passenger, a rear-view camera and a 360 degree surround-view camera for ultimate safety are also available, depending on model. And, the extra-comfy seats and use of soft-touch material around the cabin in a welcome addition. Some of the safety features include an auto-hold function, ABS, EBD and a corner brake control.
Power comes from 1.5-litre petrol engine delivering 118 horses and up to 150Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT and it has a choice of three steering models along with ESP traction control across all trims.
