There’ll be a new generation 4 Series with us soon and of course a new M4 too - but that doesn’t mean BMW is done with the current model, not by a long way in fact. The Bavarians have revealed the M Heritage special edition - offered exclusively as a coupe (F82) - to help celebrate all the achievements of M GmbH since its 1972 inception.

Available in M colours Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue and Imola Red II, the hopped-up M4 features a carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof with an offset decorative stripe, 20in alloys with an Orbit Gray finish wrapped with 265/30 and 285/40 tyres and an interior that will feature full-Merino Leather M Sport seats and door sills carrying the “1/750” and “Edition M Heritage” logos.

Based on the M4 equipped with the Competition Package, it’ll get a 444bhp and 550Nm of torque turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six mated to a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic. It will hit 100kph from rest in around 3.8 seconds and have a top speed of 250kph. Its Adaptive M Suspension has been fine tuned to improve handling and boats new shocks, springs, and anti-roll bars while the driving modes will be recalibrated.

Just 750 units will be produced and the world debut is scheduled for the DTM racing event at the Nürburgring on September 13.
