Yesterday’s grainy, leaked image of the Sian (taken from the Unica mobile app and posted online by a Lamborghini owner) was enough to capture the imagination of enthusiasts everywhere and today we have a full gallery of the new model – confirmed as the most powerful in Sant’Agata Bolognese history - and boy oh boy does it look good!
Making its online debut in its full glory and displaying its spectacular design ahead of its public debut in Frankfurt this month, the Sian packs same naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 used by the SVJ however, with the addition of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system adding 34 horses it makes a total of 819 horsepower turning it into the most powerful production Lamborghini of all time.
Those horses are fed to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox with adaptive shift characteristics and although it makes more power than the SVJ they both have the same 0-100kph acceleration time of 2.8 seconds while its top speed is electronically governed at 350kph.
We just love the look of this thing – it sure is a head-turner what with those aggressive and angular lines, and perfect supercar proportions but the best aspect has to be the rear end; just look at those six hexagonal LED taillights and massive diffuser!
“The fastest Lamborghini must be a visual and symphonic feast, as remarkable to those who see it pass by as those privileged to drive it,“ Mitja Borkert, Head of Design at Lamborghini, explains. “It takes inspiration from the Countach, but the Sián is a futuristic icon, not retrospective."
That number ‘63’ badge on the little carbon fibre shark fins at the back indicate the number of units Lamborghini will be building (and they have all already been spoken for!) and each will cost $3.6 million. In fact, all 63 examples are already sold.
