The coronavirus has caused markets to crash, grocery stores are being emptied out and overall it's a pretty apocalyptic feeling out there. Cars are probably the last thing on peoples minds but if it gets any worse, you'll need a robust vehicle that can protect you... And for these difficult times, we have found the perfect vehicle - the Armortruck.
Penned as a digital show car by Milen Ivanov (he also did online concepts like the Lamborghini Concepto X and Audi RS Concept...) his latest concept is our favourite.
The longer we spend staring at this rugged concept, we realize that is is just what we would want to be riding in if society totally collapsed around our ears due to the escalation of the coronavirus...
It is based on the 2020 Rezvani Tank which features ballistic armor, EMP protection, and the same 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that powers the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon tuned to produce over 1,000 horsepower. It's hard as nails then but Ivanov has envisioned an SUV that's even tougher.
If you reckon this thing looks like it belongs in a Fast & Furious movie, well it does, kind of. Ivanov designed some of the custom vehicles in the animated Netflix show 'Fast & Furious Spy Racers.' The Armortruck has a bulletproof body made from steel, Kevlar, carbon fibre and titanium. Ivanov was inspired by the likes of the Tesla Cybertruck, Hummer and Arquus Scarabee for the design of the Armortuck.
There is enough room inside for four occupants while the interior is "durable and luxurious at the same time" according to the render artist. It is also equipped with thermal night vision and even a roof based oxygen regeneration and filtering system, against viruses.
Sadly, this wild SUV is just a fictional concept for now, but if this virus mutates and we have a zombie apocalypse on our hands, then we want to see this on the road asap!
