The annual wheels Car of the Year awards is around the corner. The region’s first, and most prestigious automotive awards is into its 10th year, with even more cars, more categories and more awards than ever before.

As regular readers will know, the wheels awards recognises the best cars in various segments, and from among these winners, one overall Car of the Year is chosen. While these winners are selected by our panel of judges (see below), who among them have several decades of collective experience in motoring journalism, there are two categories that are solely left to our valued readers to decide on.

The first, the coveted Readers’ Choice award, pits more than 50 noteworthy all-new or substantially updated cars that were launched in the past year against one another. We want you to choose your favourite — just head to our online poll on Last year, the Toyota Fortuner took a landslide victory with over a third of the entire votes, beating heavyweights like the Range Rover SV Autobiography and the Nissan Patrol Nismo.

The second award, once again chosen by online voting, is for the best car from among more than 50 readers’ rides featured in My Wheels — one of the most popular sections in the magazine.

So, head to and choose your favourites. We’re handing the power over to you — use it wisely!
