Mercedes has grown its E-Class model range and amazingly it has done so without it feeling diluted. Several variations have sprouted from the same platform as the handsome saloon; you’ve got the convertible, estate, All-Terrain, E 63 saloon (and estate) but when it comes to aesthetics, the Coupé beats the lot hands down.
Its pillar-less window openings offer an uninterrupted open-air feeling from front to back and that it drives as good as it looks makes it our winner in this segment. It also boasts the best interior in class by some distance too we might add. The ultra-modern cockpit breaks new ground, its high quality and impeccable attention to detail complements the exterior ever so well. As good as the Audi A5 and Jaguar F-Type are, they can’t match the Mercedes when it comes to class and refinement. And let’s not forget tech; the Benz has an extraordinary amount of state-of-the-art wizbangery including advanced sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, head-up display, ambient lighting, onboard WiFi hotspot and a Driving Assistance Package that nets you Distance Pilot Distronic, Active Braking Assist with Cross-Traffic Function and Congestion emergency braking function, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist. What else do you want? Two 12.3in hi-res screens? You got it.
There are several engine options available too but with such a stylish car you’ll only ever be cruising and so the E200 with the naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-pot with 184 horses and 300Nm of torque is all you’ll need.
